Congratulations to Heather Benjamin who was awarded a $5,000 NCBFAA scholarship sponsored by Roanoke Trade. Heather is an employee with C.H. Robinson’s Global Forwarding Chicago Branch in Wood Dale, IL and is working towards her bachelor’s degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her essay “If Higher Tariffs Generate More Revenue, Why Are There So Many Free Trade Agreements?” was selected by a panel of experts out of many applicants to be the winner. After 18 years of dedicated service, Jackie Adamson retired from Roanoke on February 15th. Before joining Roanoke Jackie worked for our long-time client, John S. James as a Licensed Customs Broker for over 22 years. This allowed her to approach our insurance services from a first-hand operational perspective of our client base. During Jackie’s tenure with Roanoke Trade, she has served as the Regional Vice President of our Charleston, South Carolina office. On December 12, 2013, the NEI (NCBFAA) conducted a Webinar regarding the ACE eBond Deployment scheduled for January of 2015. Speakers Chip Bown, Colleen Clarke, Michael Davenport, and Bruce Ingalls shared the status of CBP’s STB centralization and eBond deployment projects.
New Ports in Mexico Entail Procedural Adjustments Roanoke Trade is pleased to announce an expansion of the ATA Carnet network in Mexico. Since joining the ATA Carnet system in 2011, Mexico has processed thousands of Carnets for Commercial Samples, Exhibitions and Fairs, and Professional Equipment at select ports of entry. The success of the ATA Carnet in these pilot markets has now made the goal of nationwide acceptance a reality: in 2014, Mexican Customs is prepared to welcome its greatest number of Carnet imports yet.
