Sheila Skipper is the Regional Vice President of Roanoke’s Southeast region. She has over 30 years of industry experience. She has been the Regional Vice President in Houston, Texas, since 1997, became the Regional Vice President of our Miami office in 2010 and assumed the role of Regional Vice President of the Charleston, South Carolina office in 2015. In 2023, Sheila added Long Beach and San Francisco offices to her repertoire, furthering our commitment to delivering consistent, reliable service across the diversified regions and time zones/the country.
Sheila was appointed to the International Freight Forwarders & Customs Brokers Association of New Orleans (IFFCBANO) board of directors in May 2021. Seeing industry issues emerge in real-time through Sheila’s involvement with the IFFCBANO allows her to better understand our clients’ ever-changing risks.
As a licensed insurance broker, she specializes in cargo insurance, customs bonds, training/education and sales support for her thirty-state region. It is her in-depth knowledge of marine insurance that Sheila credits with making her successful at her job. As she interfaces with clients daily, she is responsible for seeing that Roanoke’s internal processes and procedures are smooth and efficient. Making it easy for customers to do business with Roanoke is a win-win situation—and that’s what Sheila does best.
After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Financial Planning from Purdue University, Sheila relocated to Houston. She began her career with Roanoke in 1990. While Marine Manager, Sheila secured an alternative insurance program with the London market, giving Roanoke’s clients an alternative to domestic market coverage. During her tenure as Marine Manager, Roanoke’s Houston office sustained significant growth in cargo insurance sales while maintaining an excellent loss ratio.
“My job is to make sure everyone knows the primary focus of our office is to give our customers the superior attention they deserve. When we put our clients first, we inevitably do the right things!”
