Sergio Laos has been in the marine insurance industry for more than 30 years and is located in Roanoke’s Miami office. As a Vice President at Roanoke, he is currently responsible for all insurance placements in the Florida region. Sergio specializes in cargo insurance, general business insurance consisting primarily of general liability & property, legal liabilities and surety bonds for transportation intermediaries, along with many insurance products Roanoke Trade has to offer.

During his career, Sergio has held roles as both a broker and underwriter which provide him with a special understanding of the placement pitfalls. In addition, his hands-on knowledge of the Latin American insurance market provides a rare depth in solving the common obstacles faced in the South Florida region.

Sergio obtained his Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation, part of the CPCU Society, from the Insurance Institute of America and Certified Marine Insurance Professional (CMIP) designation from the International Institute for Martine Insurance Studies.

Prior to joining Roanoke in early 2012, Sergio served as Marine Reinsurance Underwriter for Latin America at Navigators Insurance Company, Senior Marine Account Executive at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., and Cargo Product Manager at UPS Capital Insurance (a division of UPS).
