Roanoke Insurance Group Welcomes Grant E. Goldsmith to Business Development Team

We are pleased to announce the addition of Grant E. Goldsmith to our team as Vice President of Business Development for Roanoke Insurance Group Inc. Grant’s career in the insurance industry spans more than 17 years as a commercial Property and Casualty broker, beginning in 2001 when the Graham Company, a large regional broker, hired Grant to manage and place U.S. and multinational business. In 2004, he joined newly formed McIntyre Group where he was also responsible for large U.S. and multinational accounts. In 2005, Agility became a client of McIntyre Group and, in 2006 at Agility’s request, Grant moved to Kuwait with his family to head the new Agility Global Risk Management Department. He managed the firm’s Marine, Specialty and Property and Casualty concerns.

Upon his return to the U.S. in 2010, Grant started a specialty government-contracting company called Overwatch, Inc., which was later acquired in mid-2012 by Avalon Risk Management. He served as Divisional Vice President of the Southern Division for Avalon until becoming part of the Roanoke team.

Grant brings a wealth of insurance expertise to Roanoke as a licensed Insurance Broker and Consultant and with his Post Graduate Diploma in Marine Insurance from Lloyd’s Maritime Academy and the University of Swansea in Wales. He is a marine arbitrator and former President of the Houston Maritime Arbitration Association and holds the designations of Certified Risk Manager International (CRM) and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC). Grant was recently honored by the CRM, a member of the National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research, for leadership and professionalism in the field of risk management.

He holds a Master of Arts degree in Strategic Communication and Leadership (MASCL) from Seton Hall University in the United States, and a Bachelors of Science in Systems Engineer from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is also a graduate of several elite military educational institutions including the Combined Arms Services Staff School, US Army Airborne and Air Assault schools. Grant served on active duty and reserve duty for more than 25 years with other patriots in the defense of our nation.
