As Senior Vice President at Roanoke, Joe Chillino is part of the sales leadership team overseeing the sales team in the Chicago, Long Beach and Houston offices covering territory comprising the western half of the United States. Joe provides expertise and support to sales team members around the country to assist in new client acquisition and pursuit of new enterprise accounts. His specialties include Cargo Insurance, Transit Liabilities, Commercial Lines Insurance, Customs Bonds, and Professional Liability Insurance.
Joe maintains an Associates in Marine Insurance Management (AMIM) designation with the American Institute For Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (The Institutes) and a Transportation Risk and Insurance Professional (TRIP) designation through International Risk Management Institute (IRMI). For many years Joe was an approved Lloyd’s of London coverholder, possessing underwriting authority for Munich Re Syndicate, Ltd.
Joe joined Roanoke in 2006, and has gained valuable insurance experience throughout Roanoke’s organization in various roles, including management, sales, marine, and claims. During his tenure at Roanoke, Joe has served as Senior Vice President, Vice President of Brokerage Operations, Regional Vice President of the Midwest and Atlantic, Sales Executive in Houston, Marine Manager of Houston, Account Executive in LA and Claims Assistant. As Marine Manager and Sales Executive of the Roanoke Houston office, Joe succeeded in increasing the book of business while maintaining a profitable loss ratio.
As Regional Vice President of Chicago, Joe oversaw significant revenue growth through aggressive sales strategies and client retention. His priority has always been his team and his clients, and so the upward mobility of numerous team members key to Roanoke’s future during his time as RVP remains one of his proudest achievements during his time in that role. As VP of Brokerage Operations, Joe oversaw the digital transformation of many of Roanoke’s core functions, along with streamlining existing and developing new processes to equip the company for the challenges of the 21st century.
Joe is a regular contributor to Breakbulk, a Journal of Commerce publication, among other publications and has spoken on panels for various industry events including the Breakbulk Conference, the Export University and the NCBFAA Education Institution (NEI). Joe attended the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University where he received two Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance and Business Marketing
