Roanoke Agency was founded by Curt Hamann in 1935. The company took its name from the Roanoke building in Chicago, where the first office was opened.
1950

1950s

Open the New York office under the name of East Coast Agency.
1970

1970s

Opened offices in Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, San Francisco, Boston, Baltimore and Charleston. In 1978, Roanoke Agency became an authorized Carnet Service Provider for the United States Council for International Business (USCIB).
1990

1990s

The Roanoke Agency was renamed to Roanoke Brokerage Services, Inc. Partnered with Globex International Group, a leading multinational insurance and risk management consulting firm, expanding Roanoke’s scope of deliverable services to over 120 countries around the world.
1998

1998

The U.S. operations of Trade Insurance Services merged with Roanoke Brokerage Services, forming the largest U.S. insurance brokerage operation specializing in customs bonds and marine cargo insurance for the international trade community.

2000s

Roanoke Trade became a member of Munich Re and an affiliate of Munich Re Syndicate Ltd.

Celebrated our 75th anniversary. Structural re-organization into three distinct business groups, Roanoke Trade, Roanoke Claims and Roanoke Underwriting, under the Roanoke Insurance Group corporate identity to clearly delineate market segments, focus resources and enhance deliverable services.
